The winter pre-season of the 2017-2018 season has kicked-off! The team began with the first training session at Letná on Thursday.

Andrea Stramaccioni had his squad almost complete for the practice, as only Josef Šural (ilness) and Ondřej Zahusel (light injury) were not available.

Marc Janko, Jonathan Biabiany and Georges Mandjeck were missing, as their move out of the club is currently being negotiated. The reason is a necessary roster cut given Sparta’s presence in only signle competition until the end of the season. Economical demands of the players’ contract were considered as well.

On the other side, Zinedin Mustedanagić and Jiří Kulhánek returned back to Sparta after playing on loan in Dukla Prague and Slovan Liberec respectively.

Two academy players have also been given a chance – strikers Václav Drchal and Youssouf Dao joined the team on Thursday. Ivorian player will join the team later, as he is currently getting back from his home country.

The team is going to travel to Spain twice in the winter pre-season. Sparta will play their first winter friendly on January 9, when they host second division side Táborsko at the Strahov training ground.
