It was all going just fine, Sparta were enjoying a 1-0 lead at the break. But then they were unable to keep the pace and Steaua managed to level the score to get a valuable draw.

Aleš Čermák started in his first competition match after coming back from loan, after a great performance in the second half against Fenerbahce.

Both teams exchanged first warnings after only three minutes of play, as Bičík made a great save on Stanciu’s header, and Nita denied Dočkal with his shot from the edge of the box.

David Lafata then found Dočkal’s cross inside the box, was all alone in front of the goal, but only hit Steaua’s keeper from a good scoring position.

Finally, Sparta opened the score after 36 minutes. Josef Šural headed in a cross from a corner and gave Nita no chance.

Konaté and Lafata could widen the gap before the final whistle, but unfortunately, they both missed.

Sparta then lacked pace in the second half and gave Steaua an opportunity to get back into the game. Stanciu had his team’s first big chance of the second half, but Bičík made another good save.

Then, Stanciu fell down after a light contact with Frýdek, and scored a lovely goal from a free kick to se the final score.
