Unexpected drama

Sparta started the first league fixture the best way possible and no one would expect Slovácko to fight back after the first half. However, the match became a real thriller quite unexpectedly.

Zdeněk Ščasný made only one change in the starting line-up, as Lukáš Juliš replaced David Lafata up front.

The start was amazing for the home side. Bořek Dočkal was hit by Slovácko’s goalkeeper Heča’s clearance and the ball bounced to the net after only two minutes of play.

Short while after that, Košút kicked Juliš in the face in the penalty area, and Dočkal had no trouble converting a penalty kick.

Josef Šural could even score Sparta’s third early in the second half, but he got denied by Heča after a huge mistake by Slovácko’s defenders. And that was where the thriller started.

After a couple of redirected passes, Slovácko’s striker Diviš was unmarked in the box and gave Bičík no chance.

Tiémoko Konaté then finished a lovely passing play of his teammates to give Sparta a two-goal lead again, but it was Diviš again to score – this time after a quick counter attack.

It was no easy finish for Sparta this time. Lafata and Kadlec failed in their chances, as well as Diviš, whose overhead lob hit the crossbar. Despite the last chances, the score hadn’t changed until the final whistle.
