Tomáš Rosický has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after an Achilles tendon surgery on Monday.

“I has not been getting better recently. After the problems I had in the autumn, it was improving and it looked like I could be back soon, but the problems have returned. There’s no other solution than the surgery,” Rosický said in an interview for SpartaTV.

Rosický has decided the surgery would solve his long-term problems with Achilles tendon that could not been cured with a conservative treatment. He underwent the surgery on Monday without any complications.

Rosický now aims to be back for the start of the next season.

“It’s like life – if there’s a hope, you gotta fight for it. I need to try one more time. I’ve been here since childhood and not giving up is one of the club values at Sparta,” Rosický said.

Rosický has returned to the club last August, but made only one appearance (at home vs. Mladá Boleslav), playing nineteen minutes.
