Sparta lost to Spartak Moscow in the Wednesday's last pre-season friendly but head coach Andrea Stramaccioni saw positive things in the match and he thinks that it most important.

"It was important we were able to play against such a strong team like Spartak Moscow. I wanted to play against a team who is strong and also in the same preparation phase," said Stramaccioni.

Sparta will play the first domestic league match against Slovan Liberec next Sunday, Spartak will face Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League First Knockout Stage on next Thursday.

"We were the better team during the first 70 or 75 minutes but we were defeated in the end. But that is not so important in this time of pre-season. The most important was I saw very positive things in our play. We had the match under the control most of the time and players were in right positions and they were creative and adventurous enough. Ondřej Zahustel had a great chance to equalise just before the end but Spartak keeper made a great save."

Stramaccioni was happy for Václav Kadlec who scored the only Sparta goal in the match. "He missed the first part of the pre-season and it was important he was able to play the main part of the match and the goal will help him."

"I feel very good in striker position and I'm happy I scored a goal. It's nice to score especially as I missed earlier matches. I think I'm ready for the spring part of the season," said Václav.

"Ondra Zahustel made a great job before my goal, he is the one who deserves the praise for the assist and his work," continued Václav.

Stramaccioni was unable to use Ben Chaim and Šural in the match. "We didn't want risk to lose them for a longer time. I hope they both will be ready soon. The situation of Semih Kaya is worse because he had another setback and he will need more time to get back to full fitness."

The squad will travel back to Prague on Thursday night and will train in Prague next week before the domestic league will restart.
