Marco Paixao leaves Sparta and moves to Polish side Lechia Gdansk, currently placed 10th in the top division.

Paixao leaves after six months, after being unable to secure his spot in the first team line-up. During autumn the Portuguese striker also struggled with an ankle injury.

Paixao had a tremendous pre-season, scoring six times in five matches. With the only goal of the match, he secured Sparta a 1-0 win over Ludogorec, then scored two more in a big win in Ried. Finally, he scored a hattrick in the last match of the pre-season in Cottbus.

However, he started to struggle when competition matches started, and his situation got even more difficult when David Lafata recovered from a knee injury. Paixao appeared in one cup match, one match in both Europa League and Champions league. He played in three Synot Liga matches.
