Great news ahead of Sunday’s clash with Plzeň, as David Bičík signed a one-year contract extension with Sparta!

Sparta’s number one goalkeeper will stay with the club for the upcoming season as well, and a one-year option is included in the deal.

David Bičík is a Sparta homegrown player, who was getting his first senior-level football experience on loan in Plzeň and Kladno. He even left Sparta for a while, but returned back to Letná after spells in Slovan Bratislava, Liberec and Turkey. Before the start of the 2014-2015 season, he signed at Letná and created a brand new goalkeeping duo with Marek Štěch, who had also returned to his former club. Miroslav Miller then completed the trio later in the season.

Bičík had 123 league starts, 39 of them for Sparta. In the current season, Bičík played in 45 matches (22 domestic league, 13 Europa League, 2 Champions League and 8 pre-season matches), being one of the key parts of the team on its run to the Europa League quarterfinal stage.
