Great news coming from Spain! Sparta extended a contract of their homegrown player Lukáš Juliš! New contract is valid until June 2020.

„I’m really happy to sign the contract and I’m grateful for being offered the extension. Having the opportunity to keep working here means a lot to me,“ Juliš said right after signing his new contract in the first team’s training camp in Spain.

“We’re excited to sign Lukáš on a long-term deal, as he’s one of homegrown players slowly making his impact in the first team, even though he’s been through some tough times recently. We believe he’ll continue fighting for his chance here,” said Jakub Otava, the club’s board member.

“Since his injury, he’s been working very hard and became our no. 2 striker right behind David Lafata. If he stays healthy, he’ll get a bigger chance this spring,” said Zdeněk Ščasný.

Chrudim-born, Juliš has been raised in Sparta youth academy and made his step to the first team squad as a 17-years old. Since then, he played in eleven league matches and scored three goals.

21-years old striker also appeared in a couple of European matches. In this season’s Europa League group stage, he was a sub late in a game against Schalke and Asteras, however, he played in a starting line-up against APOEL and scored a magnificent backheel goal.

Juliš has also been a regular youth national team player, making himself noticed in the U17 World championship. Even though the Czechs didn’t make it past the group stage, Juliš scored all of team’s goals in the tournament. Currently, Juliš is a Czech U21 player.
